Short Biography

Md. Uzzal Chowdhury is a 'Senior Analyst – Statistics' at the Climate Change, Environment, and Health Hub of BRAC JPGSPH, BRAC University. With nearly a decade of experience, he specializes in public health, climate change adaptation, water resilience, forced displacement, and research involving marginalized populations. He holds a Master’s in Statistics from the University of Dhaka and has led over twenty mixed-methods research projects that have informed program design, implementation, and policy advocacy.

During his tenure at Save the Children International, Uzzal collaborated with Brunel University, UK MDI, Monash University, and Save the Children Korea on research related to climate-resilient displacement and water resilience in Bangladesh. His key strengths include designing mixed-method studies, capturing learning, and generating evidence-based insights. He also brings valuable public sector experience from his previous role at the a2i Program under the Prime Minister’s Office and UNDP.

Research Interests


Uzzal Chowdhury’s research interests focus on public health social development and environmental resilience. He is particularly interested in climate change water resilience and forced displacement in both urban and rural areas. His work pays special attention to marginalized communities including people living in brothels and Dalit groups. He also explores issues of sexual and reproductive health children’s and adolescents’ health and develops indexes to measure complex outcomes. In addition he applies behavioral science to make services simpler and more accessible.
