Md Tanvir Hasan

Dr Md Tanvir Hasan is currently a Professor and Co-Director of the Centre of Excellence for Urban Equity and Health (CUEH) at the BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (BRAC JPGSPH), BRAC University. He has more than 13 years of teaching and research experience.

Dr Hasan teaches Biostatistics (MPH 521) and Population Health Informatics (MPH 621) in the Master of Public Health (MPH) Programme at BRAC JPGSPH, BRAC University. In addition to teaching, he is currently leading several research and capacity development projects as Principal Investigator (PI)/Country Lead.

He holds a PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia, and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Applied Statistics from the University of Dhaka.

Dr Hasan’s research work primarily focuses on maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), urban environment and health, adolescent health, stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS, and the health and well-being of vulnerable population groups, including persons with disabilities.

He has expertise in advanced statistical analysis, mixed methods research, evaluation research, longitudinal studies, and spatial epidemiological research.

Dr Hasan has been awarded research grants as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) from multiple organisations, including the World Bank, World Health Organization (WHO), International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Canada, Open Society Foundations, and the Dutch Government.
